Found this little gem by accident looking for Korean food on Google. The location is stucked away next door to F& L Market.  I walked and and the owner was aloof but courteous. Time was not on my side so I ordered two orders of kimbap to go.

While waiting on my kimbap I took a scroll around the store.  They have a medium selection of items ( some spices, rice, oils, frozen fish, Korean desserts, and snacks). They also had a small dining area that no more than 2 to 3 people can sit down at to eat.

My kimbap was ready in 6 or so minutes. I was shocked at the size! The portions where huge!
The taste of was the most  authentic Korean kimbap I have had so far in southwest VA. Definitely coming back again!

A hidden gem, yes, but it could have been even better. Ultimately, the shining star turned out to be the three side dishes. You'd be right to think that this is half the number of side dishes you'd get at other Korean restaurants, but each came in a generous portion size and the authenticity won me over. In fact, the warm fish cakes with brown onions tasted like they'd just been tossed off the pan, a world away from what you'd normally find which is twisted and hardened from refrigerated storage. Kimchi was nice and mellow, and the spicy tofu was tender and flavourful.

Now, the food. I'd say the food here is home style cooking for better or worse, and both the jajang noodles and bulgogi rice were quite different from my expectations:

    - Jajang: a great sauce with chunky sauteed onions. I wish that either the noodles had been cooked or warmed up for longer, or a different, thinner and softer kind had been used. 4/5

    - Bulgogi: can't fault the rice, but the beef must have been cooked for a bit too long. It certainly wasn't the usual shredded beef with a sweeter marinade that I'm sure everyone's familiar with. 3/5

    - Gimbap: Korea's answer to sushi. The roll was massive, and the filing was simple but classic. 5/5

    - Spicy rice cakes: the thing that killed this one was undercooked rice cakes. The small serving size didn't bother me as much, but I do think a hardboiled egg just might have been a saving grace. 3.5/5

I like that it looks family run and there's a grocery section which was fun you browse through after we ordered. They have a surprisingly decent variety on their menu, and we will be back to try other things.

We tried this place one Sunday afternoon on a whim. Heard good things about it but I was skeptical, as I am about many food places in Lynchburg. Man oh man I was happily surprised! We got our order to go and tried only a few things for our first time. The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious.

I got the bulgogi and it came with a choice of 2 of 3 sides. I chose the kimchi and fish cake. The bulgogi had a great flavor, not overwhelming or salty. The meat paired with the rice was a grand slam. Not a fan of kimchi but I did try it and it was too spicy for me. The fish cakes are definitely an acquired taste.

My husband ordered the spicy pork belly because he heard good reviews about it. He was thoroughly impressed and ate everything. I'm not a fan of spicy so I left that alone.

We both tried the buns and I had only planned to try one and ended up eating 4! They come in an order of 9. Good amount and even better flavor.

The order was also amazing as it was raining when we visited so he followed my husband out to our car with an umbrella in the pouring rain. That was very compassionate & one reason why I love small businesses. We definitely plan to visit again soon!

Best and only Korean place in Lynchburg. They do not have a lot of dishes available but what they do make is very flavorful. The owner is very nice.

Probably the most legit Korean place in Lynchburg. Also possibly the only legit Korean place in Lynchburg. With that being said, it has good food, but you've probably had better.
